Access to reliable and secure electricity and lighting is a vital factor for economic and social development. Electricity and lighting enable opportunities for growth and progress. They are the essential elements for creating a brighter future.
Construction of the Luwhindja micro-hydroelectric dam will not only bring the convenience of electric light to the people in the village, but also will help create jobs and provide farmers with sufficient water supply to irrigate their farms.
In addition to using electricity for lighting, residents also will be able to plug in and use various electrical appliances, including irons and water heaters. The schools will also be able use computers in class, which will help them greatly in their studies. Furthermore, students will be able study and do homework under the light of electric lamps at home.
The micro-hydroelectric dam project, which has a capacity of generating 360 KW or 450 KVA of electricity, will be able provide power to 288 families of the villages throughout the year. Luwhindja is a small village with the total population of 54000 population. this means that in order generate power for everyone in the village, Bagalwa foundation will need more funding to build more dams.
